Help With OpenManage over SNMP or CIM and multi-network
Mar 3 2010, 11:58 AM EST
I have a network with 4 networks. I have created access lists allowing port 161 UDP (SNMP) to talk between these networks as well as high level ports 1024+. These networks are on a down flow access-list usually, eg, 100 can talk to 80,60,40. but 40,60,80 cannot talk to 100. 80 can talk to 60,40 and so on. So any ports not explicitly given an access-list for will only communicate down hill. I am running IT Assistance from the 100 net and it discovers all the servers running OpenManage on the 100 net, both by SNMP and by CIM. When I try to discover servers on the 60 and 40 it finds none, again, both by CIM and SNMP methods. Please shed some light on what I am doing wrong or not allowing and any troubleshooting tips you may have.Thank you, -Shawn Do you find this valuable?

Several ports need to be open. This section of the ITA User's guide should help out - http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/software/smitasst/8.6/en/ug/html/securein.htm#wp1063227 Specifically, this section lists all the ports --> http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/software/smitasst/8.6/en/ug/html/securein.htm#wp1053427 Hope that gets you down the right path. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Thank you,I had to enable ICMP for the discovery to work. Do you find this valuable? |
