The Dell PowerVault MD3000i, announced on September 10, is an iSCSI storage array that provides an inexpensive, easy to configure storage area network (SAN) for both those enterprises that are using SANs as well as those that want to start. A key usage scenario are small-to-medium businesses that may currently be using direct attached storage for all their enterprise applications but are looking to consolidate into a SAN for better disk utilization and ease of management. The MD3000i is ideal for storage consolidation, as the first study shows.
