Welcome to the Solaris on PowerEdge Servers Wiki at Dell.

General Notes

Solaris runs well on Dell PowerEdge Servers. Currently, Dell PowerEdge servers are split into 2 groups :

  • PowerEdge servers certified by Sun on behalf of Dell for running Solaris 10. These servers are fully supported by Dell and listed on HCL for Solaris OS under 'OEM and System Vendor Products'.

  • PowerEdge servers certified via the Sun HCL entries for running Solaris (limited support by Dell)

PowerEdge 1950 III Dell PERC 6/i and SAS 6/iR supported for internal storage.

PowerEdge 2970 Dell PERC 6/i supported for internal storage.
PowerEdge M600 Onboard SATA and Dell SAS 6/iR supported for internal storage.
PowerEdge M605 Onboard SATA and Dell SAS 6/iR supported for internal storage.
PowerEdge R805 Dell PERC 6/i and SAS 6/iR supported for internal storage.
PowerEdge R900 Dell PERC 6/i supported for internal storage.
PowerEdge R905 Dell PERC 6/i supported for internal storage.

Dell is actively working on certifying PowerEdge servers with Solaris so you can expect more models to follow soon.
