Folks,
A customer told me that the Virtual CD (DRAC5 Virtual Media) , automaticaly created in Windows, is interfering with some of his processes, because of the drive letter assgnmnent. Is there a way to disable (detach) the Virtual CD, in the DRAC BIOS (Ctrl+E) or the system BIOS?I understand you can detach using RACADM or a Web Browser session, but we were looking for a more direct way. thanks, Daniel

The VMware web site states that the latest version of ESX3i supports OpenManage 5.4 (http://www.vmware.com/support/vi3/doc/vi3_esx3i_i_35u1_vc25u1_rel_notes.html). Though I don't see any referenence to this anywhere. Is there a version of OpenManage that works with the 3i infrastructure?

A co-worker of my has a customer that using serial KVM's. He's find finding that the serial port on his new 2950 does not allow for serial re-direction. Any ideas on how to "enable" serial redirection?
PS - he's found the setting in the BIOS to enable this. but the change does not take effect when he tries :-(

I recently got a question from a customer - Is it possible to dump DMI information from a Dell system to prove that it is compliant with SMBIOS standards?
Thanks - Todd

A while back there was talk of a new version of openmanage based off of Altiris? Is this still around, and if so, where can I get information on it?

Hi guys,
I'm having a problem with OM ManNode running in Suse 10. I have installed the program and when I went in to configure the snmpd.conf file using vi, I saw the following: rocommunity public 127.0.0.1 # rwcommunity mysecret 127.0.0.1 I proceeded to edit the file and now I have the following: rocommunity <my community name> trapcommunity <my community name> trapsink <my openmanage server ip address> # Allow Systems Management Data Engine SNMP to connect to snmpd using SMUX smuxpeer .1.3.6.1.4.1.674.10892.1 Having successfully installed OM in a few ESX servers before, I thought this would've been a day at the park to install but, it certainly doesn't appear to be. The server shows up in ITA with a question mark and all I see (information wise from it) is its ip address. I read in a thread somewhere that the smux line should be edited to add a password to it? I tried to access the file to give it a password but I couldn't do it. The command I used was: /opt/dell/srvadmin/dataeng/bin/dcecfg32 command=setsmuxpassword password=(my community name) I just get the "not a directory" response. Any help would be appreciated. Jimmy |

| sbyers_1982 | How do you deploy OMSA to remote server and install | 3 | Feb 20 2008, 10:15 AM EST by Roger_Foreman | |||

Do you have scripts available that allow the client files to be copied to a server and then install OMSA? I have over a 150 servers and can't be bothered installing them individually if i can help it. I am using IT Assistant 8.1.1 and deploying OMSA 5.30. I found a document (http://www.dell.com/downloads/global/power/ps4q05-20050202-Dasari.pdf) which contained a script to execute remotely using task management run as a command line but it didn't work. I got an error msg "task failed for target device". I am not sure if it is due to the structure of the files (in the c:\tmp folder) or the argument used.
Any help much appreciated Stephen

Hi all,
Anyone know if there is a document that lists what versions of OpenManage will load on all of the different server hardware platforms? We've been told that you can't load the latest version of OpenManage on an older server for example. I could do with a comprehensive document which states what is the latest version of OpenManage that can be loaded on the differing server models

Is there documentation anywhere that describes all of the events that are sent by server hardware in OpenManage?
We have configured mibs in HP OpenView to receive snmp traps and we would like to get a listing of just what kinds of events we could be getting i.e. fan failure, temperature alarms, RAID failure, disk failure etc. Is there a listing of what events are captured from OpenManage agents or even from the BMC?

So now I see the Dell Open Manage Network assistant. How does this interact with the other open manage applications seems to me like it replaces some function or is this purely just a switch management platform?
