LAMP Stack
To demonstrate the power of the 10G Blades for rapid application development I built a LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) stack on one blade using Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5(RHEL5).
I first installed RHEL5 along with Apache 2, PHP5 and MySQL 5 from the RHEL5-Server-20070208.0-x86_64-DVD.iso.
I then configured the components so they would talk to each other and then installed the medium size (1GB) MySQL database from the DVD Store test application, an open source database test tool available at linux.dell.com/dvdstore. Complete details are shown here.
The whole setup takes an hour or two. Upon completion, one can surf the DVD Store with any web browser and start browsing for and purchasing DVDs (with interesting titles and actors!) as shown in the next few screen shots:
