tonyhgras NX3000 as a DELL/EMC Gateway 2 Oct 7 2009, 2:47 PM EDT by tonyhgras
Thread started: Oct 7 2009, 9:55 AM EDT  Watch
Hi Jeff,
Is there any special requirements for configuring the NX3000 as a NAS Gateway (or NAS Head), using an existing DELL/EMC Array (FC attach) as the backend storage?

In the web configurator you can't configure the NX3000 with only 2 hard drives in RAID-1, which would be the preferred internal storage configuration for this setup, as the hard drives will be used only for the Operating System installation. Any workaround?

Second question is: How can you configure the NX3000 to connect to the EMC Array? It's just like a Windows Server 2008 box? Same HBA drivers, same EMC software (Powerpath/Native MPIO, Host Agent/Server Utility)?

And one last question: Can you configure NX3000 network interfaces with HA features like NIC Teaming, Link Aggregation, etc?

Sorry for doing too many questions, and great video BTW.

Thanks in advance,
Tony

flochner Default or Initial RAID level? 2 Sep 29 2009, 11:25 AM EDT by flochner

I have looked all over and cannot find:
What is the default or initial RAID level for this NX3000 configuration (as presented on the Customize pages):

2x 15K rpm 300GB SAS
4x 15K rpm 300GB SAS

Really need to know this before I settle on which drives to use.

Thanks,
