SPEC, the Standard Performance Evaluation Corporation, is "a non-profit corporation formed to establish, maintain and endorse a standardized set of relevant benchmarks that can be applied to the newest generation of high-performance computers. SPEC develops benchmark suites and also reviews and publishes submitted results from our member organizations and other benchmark licensees." Dell participates actively within SPEC and has representation on multiple committees. Dell is also on the Steering Committee and has a representative serving on the SPEC Board of Directors.
TPC, the Transaction Processing Performance Council, "defines transaction processing and database benchmarks and delivers trusted results to the industry." Dell is an active member on the TPC; representatives are on multiple standing committees and technical subcommittees. TPC results are published on their web site after a successful run and auditing of a result.
VMmark, while not an industry-standards body, is the "industry's first virtualization benchmark" and provides a standardized way of comparing servers running a server workload consolidation environment. Dell is a member company of the VMmark Review Panel and submits and reviews results. Dell and VMware are members of the SPEC virtualization subcommittee and works within that organization to create the next generation virtualization benchmark. For Dell results that may not be published on VMware's web site, visit the VMmark TechCenter page.
For more information about the benchmarks Dell runs, please visit the industry-standards web sites.
