OpenManage 5.5 is available for download from the support site. Here's a link that will take you to the downloads for the Dell PowerEdge 2950. This page will help if you are new to OpenManage and need help in figuring out what to download.
If you need the full-blown Systems Management Tools and Documentation DVD, here’s a quick tip: you can use any Dell Service Tag for the download—it doesn't have to be a Server System. I use my laptop service tag. :-)

5.5 looks really good so far...
I have found that it handles our ESX VMs very well (as in they are all within the correct groups). The Power/performance monitoring is working great though it can be a little slow to return the summary information when a server is highlighted. Software updates, alerts and more or less everything else, including repository updates etc is working fine. It may just be my environment, but I also feel it is using slightly less server resources as well... Thanks, Stuart. |
